OIL
Just a quick post. BP has, by letting one of it's partners, Haliburton, use political influence to reduce Clinton era safe guards, and make safety features weaker to save monet- what is the real cost?.
Economic.
PR damge to the good an decent oil companies in Texas. I knew some of these people in the late 80's, decent thoufghtful people - they're being beaten up. I hope they can shift faster to more natural gas and we can convert quickly to using gas, until other energy sources become reality.
For Florida, the river of grass "Everglades" is now in danger.
Florida's Coral Reefs, some of the worlds largest and most fragile could die.
Manatee's, Stone Crab...so many local Florida wonders are in danger.
New Orleans colud take another severe hit.
To the people of Alabama and Virginia - please do not re-elect your Governors, they're clueless.
Florida's Gov. Crist and President Obama have pulled back their support of offshore drilling. Gov. Schwartzenegger wiseley said - no way for California. Let the spirit of the people of Texas work to find enough safe oil sources to get us through all of this - so many things come from oil., and are produced in a safe way...the plastics industry is evolving into safer plastics.
Texas meet the challenge, take us to the next step. BP doesn't seem to get it.
Get the Navy and a huge number of ships to surround the oil, and some way develop a scooping process to pull the oil off the surface, don't make it sink. As fishermen for advice, think way out of the box - fast.
My best wises to all of our neighbors in the Gulf - this isn't political now - it is a grand communal effort by all our neighbors throughout the Gulf, what do the Saudi's do. Get Canada's advice. This could become a worldwide problem, hire people from Greece to help, help them to fix their economy by trying to help us fix our mess.

Forty Years On and looking back at NASA.
Just quickly, I was just editing and posting photos from 40 years ago in Viet nam to my Facebook page. Stop the wars, re-establsih NASA to it's proper place - do not cut their budget. We spend a ton of money on foreign aid, and too much of the money goes to dictators. Give our foreign aid to organizations that have proven they will get aid to the people in need; protect women and children from backward leadership when men are inhumane.
Money to NASA, why when so many need jobs, precisely - NASA creates new avenues for future business. Medicine, computers, weather forecasting, Earth's self protection...on and on, it has proven so valuable...let's head to Mar's. I don't want to see our Astronauts go to the space shuttle on other country's shuttles...sorry. Get the next generation vehicles built and going. Florida needs the jobs, we need NASA. 41 years ago I was at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. and I heard about the moon landing. I was getting ready to go to Viet Nam, all that money wasted, lives lost because of lies...dominoes my ass. Space the final frontier...let's go for another long ride. If we risk lives, do it for a reason.
